Featuring a compact integrated system, E3D was able to bring the price-point down and thus mass-manufacture these units at a great price. The custom motor was developed based on the NEMA 17 frame, with custom faceplate designs to incorporate the motor into the overall assembly of the device.
Comprising an efficient dual-drive system, the E3D Hemera HotEnd extruder uses a stainless-steel drive train, while each hobb is CNC-cut individually to facilitate a round-bottomed root. This prevents filament debris from getting wedged into the drive gear, and actually encourages a self-cleaning process as most debris simply falls off the teeth.
